Rolando is an award winning watercolor artist. He has actively participated in competitive plein air paint outs and juried shows in Northern California. His passion has been painting Street scenes ,boats and harbors, and county fairs capturing the light atmosphere and essence of the place. As he loves life, most of his works, include people and nature. As an Architect, he obscures elements of a building to include only the aesthetic value. He believes a good painting should tell a story.
Since his schooling in Architecture and Interior Design , he used watercolor to render his drawings, watercolor became his favorite media learning and utilizing perspective. He was aware that drawing skills and perspective wee essential for painting street scenes. Rolando embarked on art professionally in 2006 and lessened his involvement in Architecture. Rolando is a signature member of California Watercolor Association and founding member of Benicia Plein Air Gallery in Benicia, where he sells his paintings and teaches workshops.
